Welcome to the Hot Cocoa Classic 2010!

Thanks to everyone who entered our fourth annual low-frills tournament; we’re looking forward to some great racing! We have 32 teams entered; because we had to turn teams away double teaming of dogs will not be allowed and the tournament will not count for regional points.

Schedule

Friday 7:00 to 9:00pm          Building open for crating set-up.

This year we have a whole other building for crating, directly adjoining the racing building. It is 150 x 30, fairly warm, and with several electric outlets. There will be two outdoor porta-potties by the door. The floor is covered with padded matting. You do not have to tarp your crating area, but please be considerate of our floor. There should be plenty of room, but don’t be greedy with your set-up spaces.

Saturday 6:30am            Building opens

7:00am            Box measuring

7:15am            Dog measuring begins

7:45am            Captain’s Meeting

8:00am Racing begins

5:00pm            Racing ends

Sunday 7:00am            Building opens

8:00am            Racing begins

4:00 pm           Racing ends – awards ceremony

Scoring

Scoring will be 1 point for each heat won, plus two bonus point for winning the race.  Ties will result in 1 point for each team.  Tied heats will result in no points for either team. Division placement tie-breakers will be: 1. Fastest time overall.  2. Fastest time head-to-head.  3.  Best of 3 Race-Off.

Awards The top 3 teams in each division will receive prizes for the dogs and handlers.  There will also be keepsakes for new titles.

Food

Catering will be by Jack & Lin’s Food Truck. They have extensive hot food, breakfast and lunch, hot sandwiches and soup at reasonable prices. There are no restrictions on bringing outside food or drinks.

Liability Waivers

Y2K9s requires that each person sign a liability waiver.  Forms will be passed out at the captain’s meeting each day (one form for each team) and must be turned in to the scorer’s table before your first race.

Veterinary Resources

Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center, 1900 Old Lincoln Hwy, Langhorne, PA, 215-750-7884. Directions will be available at the scorer’s table.

RVs/Campers/Parking

Parking is fairly limited.  Due to the huge mountains of plowed snow in the lot it is even more restricted than usual. RVs and campers will be allowed to park on site overnight for no fee (no hookups), but there won’t be room for them in the main parking area during the day.

If you plan on bringing an RV or camper, please notify us ahead of time so we’ll know how many we need to find room for.  You may be asked to park on the street during the day. Email Deb at normanland@comcast.net .

Please note:  No reserving of parking spaces will be allowed except for host club members and those with special needs.

Please Remember…

As always, please pick up after your dogs.  Do not allow them to pee on the bushes directly in front of the building, on or near the doors or outside walls.  There are chipped areas for exercise and a nearby grassy meadow. Receptacles will be placed out in back of the building – PLEASE DO NOT USE OUR NEIGHBOR’S DUMPSTER OUT BACK.  The dumpster in front is okay to use.

About the Facility:

For those of you new to the space, it has its good points and less wonderful ones. The racing lanes are generous and well-padded. Crating is no longer an issue, and if no one is greedy it should be more than adequate. The area that was crating space in former years will now be vendors; all crating will be in the new building, which is to the left of the main building. The parking may be a bit tight, and you may have to walk a hundred yards or so, depending on when you arrive. You will be able to unload by the building and move to parking spaces. There are several areas of parking available and we will try to have someone there to direct people to suitable spots.  There are inside bathrooms in the racing building but they are incapable of handling such a large group and trust us, we don’t want to overstress them. So there will be two porta potties in the front of the crating room.

The racing building is heated but is not toasty. Dress in layers if the weather is predicted to be very cold. The crating room is quite warm.

Happy Racing!
